The first semi-final of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest took place on Tuesday evening. Representatives of Ukraine, Greece, and Norway among others secured a place in the Grand Final.
Representatives of seventeen different countries took part in the first semi-final held in Turin. Artists from Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Ukraine, Moldova, and the Netherlands reached the final which will be held on Saturday.
Oleh Psiuk, the Ukrainian contestant of Eurovision 2022 commented on his country’s participation in the event: “Our main message being here is to show that Ukrainian music and Ukrainian culture are alive. They are very beautiful. They have their ethnic code in it and its own special signature.”
Representatives of Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy also qualified for the Grand Final.
Polish representative Krystian Ochman will take part in the second semi-final scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 12. The great winner of this year’s competition will be announced on Saturday, May 14.
