‘The Dress’ by Tadeusz Łysiak on Oscars 2022 shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) published their 94th Academy Awards shortlists in 10 categories. “The Dress” directed by Tadeusz Łysiak will compete in the live action short film category.

“Fifteen films will advance in the Live Action Short Film category for the 94th Academy Awards. One hundred forty-five films qualified in the category. Members of the Short Films and Feature Animation, Directors, Producers and Writers Branches vote to determine the shortlist and the nominees,” the Oscars website wrote.

“I can not believe it. It is really happening. There are no words that can express my gratitude to the entire WSF team, the DOBRO team, and all our co-producers. Thank you,” Tadeusz Łysiak wrote on Facebook. Previously his movie “Techno” was also, among others, competing in the live action short film category.

The films “Ala Kachuu - Take and Run,” “The Criminals,” “Distances,” “Les Grandes Claques,” “The Long Goodbye,” “On My Mind,” “Tala’vision,” “Under the Heavens,” “When the Sun Sets,” “You’re Dead Helen” are also competing for a nomination in the same category.

In turn the Icelandic-Swedish-Polish co-production “Lamb”, directed by Valdimar Johannsson was listed in the shortlist for the Best International Feature Film category. The film’s co-producers are Klaudia Śmieja-Rostworowska, Beata Rzeźniczek, Bogna Szewczyk and Jan Naszewski. Agnieszka Glińska was responsible for the editing.

The Polish candidate in the international feature film category “Leave No Traces,” depicting the death of Grzegorz Przemyk, directed by Jan Matuszyński did not make it to the next stage of the Oscar race.

Nominations voting begins on Thursday, January 27, 2022, and concludes on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The titles nominated for the Oscar will be announced on February 8, 2022. The award ceremony will take place on March 27, 2022 at the Hollywood Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
