It was not a peaceful night on the Polish-Belarusian border, public attention has more recently been focused on the Kuźnica border crossing, but there have been attempts to enter Polish territory by smaller groups of migrants in other sections of the border, Mariusz Błaszczak, the Defence Minister said during an interview with Polish public radio.

He added that “the situation on the Belarusian border will not be resolved quickly. We must prepare for months, if not years”.
When asked if it was time to initiate NATO’s 4 article, the Defence Minister replied that “this is the formula we are considering. We are talking with Lithuania and Latvia about it”. He pointed out that British troops are carrying out a reconnaissance mission to establish cooperation with Polish soldiers in strengthening the fence on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Minister Błaszczak also reported on the situation of soldiers serving on the border. “Yesterday I had a briefing, a videoconference with the commanders of four divisions - because four divisions of soldiers serve on the border with Belarus. We talked about the living conditions of the soldiers,” he said, assuring that the soldiers were guaranteed adequate conditions of rest after service hours.
He also informed about the introduction of the institution of a family support center, adding that the soldiers received appropriate allowances.

Poland is experiencing a migration crisis on the border with Belarus. On Monday morning, thousands of migrants who had been camping in the vicinity of Kuźnica for a week, went to the closed Kuźnica-Bruzgi border crossing to try and force their way into Poland. Moreover, there are regular attempts to illegally cross into Poland all along the border with Belarus, with regular provocations conducted by Belarusian services.
Yesterday there were 161 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, the Border Guard informed. Orders to leave the territory of Poland have been issued against 34 people. There were also two forced attempts to cross the border recorded in the evening.
Since the beginning of the year, the Border Guard has recorded over 33,000 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, 5,500 of which occured in November, over 17,000 in October, almost 8,000 in September and over 3,500 in August.
