Public televisions’ Heart of Europe festival kicks off

More than 80 productions by the public broadcasters from 12 countries in the Central and Eastern Europe region will be available to watch under the Heart of Europe Television Festival that was inaugurated on Wednesday.

The event is organised by the Polish Public Television TVP in a hybrid form: in the Warsaw Kinoteka cinema, where it will last until November 5, and online on the website. The productions will be available there until the end of the month.

Jacek Kurski, the chairman of TVP, stressed that the aim of the project is to promote television creativity in the region, as well as to strengthen the role of public media in Europe.

Invited to the Heart of Europe were public media broadcasters from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia, Romania, and Poland. Polish and international productions will be presented in six categories: feature film, TV series, documentary film and series, entertainment, productions intended for children/teenagers, and digital, including podcasts, mobile applications, multi-platform and internet projects.

The films will be presented in their original languages ​​with English subtitles. However, the festival is not only about cinema screenings. The organisers also planned several discussion panels, conferences and meetings with artists.
