COVID-19: 13,855 new infections in Poland, active cases falling

The Health Ministry announced 13,855 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 1,013,747 including 372,559 still active. The number of active cases was 384,736 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 609 new fatalities, of which 89 were due to COVID-19 alone and 520 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 18,208.

According to the ministry, a total of 268,256 people are quarantined and 12,283 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 622,980 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 372,559 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 2,023 out of 3,106 available .

As of Wednesday morning, as many as 64,252,744 coronavirus cases, 1,488,054 deaths and 44,496,711 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 14,108,606. India has the second most with 9,499,710 cases and Brazil third with 6,388,526.
