COVID-19: 15,362 new infections in Poland, active cases falling

The Health Ministry announced 15,362 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 924,422 including 439,907 still active. The number of active cases was 440,035 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 674 new fatalities, of which 152 were due to COVID-19 alone and 522 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 14,988.

According to the ministry, a total of 338,769 people are quarantined and 18,592 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 469,527 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 439,907 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 2,073 out of the 3,041 available.

The ministry also announced that “due to corrections implemented on a running basis by laboratories under the Index of Arrivals to Poland (EWP) system, the global number of infections as of the beginning of the pandemic may not be the result of the summation of consecutive daily infections.”

As of Wednesday morning, as many as 60,179,860 coronavirus cases, 1,416,724 deaths and 42,086,783 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 12,956,783. India has the second most with 9,222,216 cases and Brazil third with 6,121,449.
