COVID-19: record-breaking 445 fatalities in Poland

The Health Ministry announced 27,086 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 493,765 including 297,803 still active. The number of active cases was 282,156 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 445 new fatalities, of which 58 were due to COVID-19 alone and 387 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 7,287.

According to the ministry, a total of 433,524 people are quarantined and 42,562 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 188,675 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 297,803 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 1,703 out of 2,238 available.

As of Friday morning, as many as 49,093,659 coronavirus cases, 1,240,683 deaths and 35,026,249 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 9,926,637. India comes second most with 8,411,724 cases and Brazil third with 5,614,258.
