COVID-19: record-breaking 21,629 new infections in Poland

The Health Ministry announced 21,629 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 340,834 including 200,759 still active. The number of active cases was 184,789 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 202 new fatalities, of which 35 were due to COVID-19 alone and 167 out of COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 5,351.

According to the ministry, a total of 496,213 people are quarantined and 49,503 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 134,724 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 200,759 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 1,254 out of 1,777 available.

As of Friday morning, as many as 45,396,551 coronavirus cases, 1,187,285 deaths and 33,030,464 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 9,214,994. India comes second most with 8,088,851 cases and Brazil third with 5,496,402.
