Scooter explosion damages multi-storey building

At 8:00 am on Saturday, Warsaw emergency services received a call about an explosion in a multi-flat building located in Ursynów, a south-west district of Warsaw.

Firefighters, police, ambulance, as well as electricity and gas services were deployed to the site of the explosion.

Firefighters who entered the flat encountered a small fire, which was quickly extinguished. They found a woman and two children on site, who luckily were unharmed, but were taken to hospital for further medical examination.

However, the strong explosion destroyed the window frames, the balcony and the facade of the building. Fortunately, other units in the building were not damaged.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion, however since there is no gas installation in the building, it is probable that the blast was caused by the battery of the electric scooter which was being charged in the flat.
