The Polish Health Ministry wants to improve the diagnostics of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus by starting laboratories in public medical facilities, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, the spokesman of the ministry told the Polish Press Agency.
The Ministry sent letters to hospitals asking them to identify facilities that have the capability to set up diagnostic laboratories, private radio RMF FM reported.
“The aim is to increase diagnostic capabilities... If a hospital has the possibility to start a laboratory, the ministry will supply the necessary funds Mr Andrusiewicz said.
Currently, there are 32 laboratories in Poland capable of running tests for the coronavirus. The spokesman of the Health Ministry said that Poland is able to run around 4,000 tests daily.
