The centre will be built at the Military Electronic Factory (WZE SA) in Zielonka near Warsaw. The WZE is part of the state-controlled Polish Armaments Group (PGZ).

Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said that the centre will be used for producing and servicing missiles used by the Polish Navy and also missiles used in the future for the Patriot system.

The Minister added that the new investment will allow for greater independence of the plant as the NSM missiles will not have to be certified by foreign companies.

The construction, costing EUR 7 million, is scheduled to be ready at the beginning of next year.

The Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) are anti-ship and land-attack long-distance guided missiles. They have been developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
