Mr Katz quoted the words of Yitzhak Shamir, the former Prime Minister of Israel, who had used these words in the past.

The words of the Israeli FM have been criticised by Polish politicians, Jewish organisations, as well as the US authorities.

The Polish Internet users, including journalists, decided to respond to the statement of Mr Katz. They used the Twitter hashtag #SayNoToRacism, often used by organisations fighting with racism in football.

They posted photographs of Poles known for helping Jews during the period of WWII, such as Jan Karski, Aleksander Ładoś, as well as Poles who have been honoured with the title of Righteous Among the Nations and asked the question “Were they also breastfed anti-semitism by their Polish mother?”. All those tweets included the tag of the Twitter account of Mr Katz (@Israel_katz).
