The body of the 50-year-old diver was found at a depth of 284 metres (930 ft) below the surface.
Last Saturday, Mr Pawlik, an experienced diver and diving instructor, was attempting to break the descent record of 316 metres (1,038 ft) set by his compatriot Jarek Macedoński.
An investigation is currently being undertaken to establish the circumstances of Mr Pawlik’s death.
