“The Avenue of Stars in the city of kings is the right place for the King of Rock 'n Roll,” the Deputy Head of Kraków's Elvis Presley fan club Stanisław Sawicki said. Many fans from all over Poland attended the celebrations.

The official unveiling of the star was held on Tuesday, when a special concert dedicated to Presley took place. Priscilla Presley, the ex-wife of late artist, who died in 1977, was the special guest at the event.

The Avenue of Stars, located near one of the Kraków landmarks, The Wawel Castle, was established in 2008 by city authorities and private radio station RMF FM. Many artists were already granted a star in the avenue, including musicians such as Celine Dion, Michael Jackson or Scorpions band, as well as late Polish film director Andrzej Wajda.

Elvis Presley was already commemorated in Kraków in some other ways. He has the avenue in one of the parks in the city and the monument. Memory of late artist is kept alive also thanks to the local fan club, functioning since the early 1990s.
